Hotel Wi-Fi on iPhone: sign in before using a VPN
A Wi-Fi checkmark does not always mean you have internet access. Complete the hotel's or airport's network sign-in, test your connection, then decide whether to set up a VPN.
Read the iPhone installation guideComplete the network sign-in
- 1Confirm the network name with the venue. In Settings, open Wi-Fi and select that network.
- 2Wait for its sign-in screen. If it does not appear, open the network's More Info control and choose Join Network.
- 3Complete the network provider's required sign-in or terms. Ask the venue about access charges or problems; a VPN does not replace this step.
- 4Check ordinary internet access before opening your VPN app. If the network still does not work, compare another connection or ask the venue for help.

VPN for Public Wi-Fi — FAQ
Does HTTPS make public Wi-Fi safe?
HTTPS encrypts the connection to a website. It does not prove the site is honest. Keep your device updated and use strong account protection; a VPN is not a phishing detector.
Why does “Without Internet” not fix the connection?
That option keeps the device associated with the Wi-Fi network without completing internet access, and turns off Auto-Login for that network. Return to the sign-in flow if you need internet access.
Why does the login appear again?
Auto-Join and Auto-Login are different settings. The network provider can still require another login; check its access rules instead of assuming the VPN has failed.
Can a personal VPN replace my employer's VPN?
Company systems may require an organisation-managed connection. Follow your employer's instructions rather than assuming a consumer VPN provides access to internal work systems.
